Restaurant Kamiya, Negishi 香味屋根岸

Restaurant Kamiya is a great place to start your afternoon tour of Yanaka and attractions around and about Shitamachi. When I visited we had their bento box, but they have a full French influenced "youshoku" menu. Service and food are great

The Lobby, Peninsula Hotel, Yurakucho ザ・ロビー・ザ・ペニンシュラホテル有楽町

I'm slowly working my way round all the afternoon teas on offer in Tokyo. I thought I should probably blog a few, so here we are. The Peninsula at Yurakucho has a nice offering from 2.30pm each day. The lobby itself is actually rather narrow and there's no view to speak of, so the room has a slightly cramped feeling. If this is likely to be an issue for you there is a private balcony with just one table and a private entrance. The staff are very cute and obliging and work hard to create a great experience for their guests.

You can order from a wide range of teas, more than once!

Andaz Tavern, Toranomon Hills アンダーズ タヴァン 虎ノ門ヒルズ

Sitting atop the latest 'Hills' development in Tokyo, Toranomon Hills,  the Andaz is one of the newest additions to the Tokyo five-star hotel scene. A member of the Hyatt group, Andaz is a design-driven hotel which aims to immerse the guest in a contemporary world of Japanese culture (and the culture of wherever they are situated around the world). Great idea.

On New Year's Eve last year, I had the opportunity to try the Andaz Tavern on the 51st floor. The hotel had prepared a set menu and entertainment through the evening until the countdown. All in all, I found everything to be extremely well done and at the end of the evening the manager came personally to wish a happy new year. The food was superb and the paired wines, although middle of the road level, were very appropriate and tasty. Very much appreciated.

This is an extremely well run hotel by the look of it.

Duck confit ravioli with gruyère cheese crème and Périgord truffle (fantastic - and my dining partner doesn't like truffles so I had a double serving!!!)

Japanese F1 beef sirloin with parmesan and saffron crust, celeriac and green peppercorn sauce (absolutely delish was this one)
